Dry Ice Blasting
Dry ice blasting is like sand blasting, plastic bead blasting, or soda blasting where a material, in this case frozen dry ice (C02) is accelerated in a pressurized air stream to impact a surface to be cleaned or prepared. Rather than using an abrasive media to grind the surface, dry ice blasting uses soft dry ice, accelerated at supersonic speeds, and creates mini-explosions on the surface to lift and remove the undesirable item off the underlying substrate. Dry ice blasting has many unique and superior benefits over traditional blasting media:
- Non-abrasive, nonflammable and non-conductive cleaning method.
- Environmentally-friendly and contains no secondary contaminants such as solvents or grit
- Allows items to be cleaned in place without time-consuming dis-assembly
- Allows for substrate to be painted on same day; ideal for plant shutdowns
- Used without damaging active electrical or mechanical parts
- Used to remove production residues, release agents, contaminants, paints, oils & biofilms
- Used for many general cleaning applications
In addition, dry ice blasting is clean and approved for use in the following industries:
- Pharmacology
- Shipping
- Printing
- Mold Remediation
- Automotive
- Rubber molding
- Fire restoration
- Food
- Electrical
- Wood
As a commercial, and industrial coating contractor, Rodgers & Son focuses on technology that helps our clients. The faster, safer and more efficiently we can clean, the more often our clients reach out us. C02 is a product that changes the way we do business. Dry ice blasting uses compressed air to accelerate frozen carbon dioxide (CO2) “dry ice” pellets to a high velocity. A compressed air supply of 150PSI can be used in this process. Pellets are made from food grade carbon dioxide that has been specifically approved by the FDA, the EPA and the USDA. Carbon dioxide is a non-poisonous, liquefied gas, which is both inexpensive and easily stored at work sites.
Ultra High Pressure Water Blasting
Ultra-High Pressure (UHP) water blasting at 40,000 PSI is also used for surface preparation in many applications. Unlike traditional abrasive blasting, UHP water jetting is dustless, minimizes waste by not using any abrasive and allows other activities to continue nearby while coating removal is in progress.
Epoxy Floor Coating
Are formulated, resinous coatings that are used as a protective surface for concrete floors. Using an epoxy finish doesn’t just create a floor that looks good, it is also a durable surface that can hold up in extreme conditions and still be aesthetically pleasing.
Epoxy finishes are good for industries utilizing coatings to designate traffic and work zones. It can be applied in different colors or types to fit the user’s requirements, and it can easily direct employees and machinery without compromising its resistance to wear and tear. It is known for its ability to be spot-repaired as damage appears — a cost-effective option. With the advanced technologies in today’s coatings, application or repairs can be made with minimal production downtime.
